Been a little stressful this week. On Wednesday, my boss brought the other admin person and I in and let us know that they would be sending someone down from the other building to be trained as admin and to figure out what parts of our jobs could be allocated to other people. A good majority of my job was. Thursday we trained the new guy a little bit - it's not a job anybody's going to be able to learn in a couple of days. Yesterday, it seems they made their decision (won't be confirmed until Monday, but I didn't get a phone call from my agency) and it looks like I've survived to work another day at Dysfunction Central.
And that's not necessarily a terrible thing because I'm in the midst of planning my first real vacation (not going back to somewhere I used to live, but going somewhere new) in ages. My mom & I are going on a road trip, north from St. Louis, through Iowa and then to Minnesota (Twin Cities & Lake Vermilion). By the way, if anyone wants to make suggestions on lively things to do in Cedar Rapids, Minneapolis-St. Paul, or Des Moines, please be my guest. Last night, Mom & I looked on a website of roadside attractions between here & there and were just cracking up - I hope this is a signal of good things for the trip ahead. (And yes, the US Hockey Hall of Fame is on the list).
I've been writing a bit - need to write a bit more. Since hockey's in the offseason, I can focus more on that. I hope to figure out an idea for NaNo at some point in the near future.
Hope you all are well. I'll leave you with a picture from my last visit to Chicago. It's not the greatest, but since they led off with it, I didn't get a lot of time to focus.
