The Vegas trip was pretty awesome. It wasn't like I actually did anything out of the ordinary, but rather had a whole weekend to do things I liked. Saturday night I stayed at the Stratosphere, went to one of those 15 minute water massage places which was rather pleasant. Then back to the room to watch the end of the Kings game (awesome game - they came from a 4-0 deficit to win 6-5, and didn't start actually scoring until midway through the 3rd period). After that I went to PollyEsther's nightclub (70s & 80s music featured), had a couple cocktails and danced for the better part of 3 hours - it was a lot of fun.
Yesterday, I collected my meager winnings for the Rams win (I only bet $5 on them) from Stratosphere, then took off for the Luxor. I dropped all my stuff in my room, then took a walk down the Strip to Bellagio and watched the water show. After that was done I went back to Luxor and got to one of my favorite parts of the trip - sitting in their sports book area (with the individual TV monitors) and watching the Chicago Blackhawks annihilate the Detroit Red Wings - okay, it was 3-2, but still... I wound up winning $29 on the game - which recouped a lot of which I had lost on the slots at Stratosphere (definitely NOT a place to go for slots). So I treated myself to some chocolate covered strawberries, a cheese plate, and spent the rest of the evening watching "Superbad" on the in-room movies.
In my opinion, Bellagio still has the best hotel rooms. The Luxor had a pretty nice bathtub (despite not having fixtures with the bold look of Kohler), but the bed was like sleeping on a rock and the room had limited soundproofing. Luxor, though, does have an awesome sports book - where I will definitely visit if I go during hockey (or baseball) season again. All the hotels are in this environmental phase now, which means that I get better water pressure in my shower at home, but at least having the option to vary it somewhat would have been nice.
I didn't get any writing done (and I'm really not too worried about it). I'm going to whittle away some time on my Oz Magi project soon, and, oh yeah, I have to pick Dino off the floor of the rest stop at some point ;-)
