Watching "Classic MLB Games" on MLB-TV yesterday made me realize just why I love Yadier Molina. That 2006 NLCS game was definitely memorable, because he was the least likely person to bang a home run in that situation. I've always had a love for the St. Louis Cardinal catchers and Yadi is no exception.
I'm looking forward to the start of the baseball season.
The Western playoff race is driving me crazy. I really liked how it was on Sunday with all of our Central Division teams getting playoff spots (I hate Detroit, but having them there is like having the Yankees in the baseball playoffs - it wouldn't feel like playoffs without them.) The Blues keep moving in and out of it. Tonight, I won't be watching the game since they're playing my beloved Blackhawks, and I can't watch the 'Hawks without rooting for them.
Speaking of the 'Hawks, they might want to start winning sometime soon. (Maybe not tonight.)
After watching the game on Versus last night, there's a question I have about the Bell Centre. During the All-Star game the Versus guys did all the interviews in the East locker room and last night they only interviewed Montreal players, so my question is - does Montreal only allow press access to the home team locker room? Quite bizarre.
By the way, was Monday night's broadcast of a West Coast (10PM EDT start) game one of the signs of the Apocalypse? Seriously, I wasn't sure Versus was aware that there are cities west of the Rocky Mountains. (Or you know, outside of Pittsburgh, Washington, or New York most weeks). They need to do that more often, because Dallas-Phoenix was way more kick-ass than it should have been.
I don't know what they put in the kool-aid up in North Dakota, but between Jonathan Toews and T.J. Oshie, it's gotta be special. (Is it too soon to be downloading college applications for my 10-month-old nephew?) Seriously though, check out the #1 play of the week.
I'm really looking forward to the Stanley Cup playoffs. Yes, there may be a hockey post or two in the weeks ahead. You have been warned.
