Fandom Snowflake Challenge 5
Challenge #5
In your own space, promote a canon/talk about a part of canon that you love.
I chose a few different fandoms.
OZ - The alliance of Kareem Said & Simon Adebisi - The two couldn't be any different, yet their underlying goal is very similar. The season 4a arc of their relationship is one of the strongest of the series and echoes through season 4b as Said needs to learn to live with his inner Adebisi.
OZ - Beecher's revenge arc - What else is a guy to do after his arms and legs are broken? The systematic revenge after the attack at the end of season 2 is incredibly satisfying and shows us a darkness inside of Beecher that he hadn't been capable of at the outset of the series.
Prodigal Son - The idea that both Dani and Malcolm were "saved by" Gil links them in ways that the job does not.
L.A. Confidential - Ed & Bud getting around to working the case together. It takes a while, but it's canon and it makes a great springing off point for future post-movie fics.
Justified - Raylan and Art knowing each other from Glynco. I like that their relationship has been established before the show even begins. I choose to look at it as "what happened at Glynco, stays at Glynco (until, of course, it doesn't)"
Buffy the Vampire Slayer - Tara finding family of choice with the Scoobies is one of the nicest part of the series and never fails to make me smile and cry at the same time.

I don't know the other fandoms, but your selections are interesting - moments of character development, not just pretty people.
Thanks for taking part in the Challenge.

Yeah, the Revenge Beecher of S3 is amazing, and so fascinating. (Personally, I think even Ryan has a respect for his mind during the Operation Andy thing, because while Keller has one idea, and Beecher's like Wait. I have a Plan, Keller seems a bit surprised by that -- but there's kind of a look on Ryan's face, like he knows Beecher is capable of a truly fucked up plan.) That, and the thing with his nails and everything. His darkness really blew me away all over again.
I hadn't thought of that angle on Prodigal Son, but you're right! That, and the way both Dani and Malcolm have seen certain sides of each other, and understood and bonded over them, that others haven't, does make their relationship unique.
I loved Tara, and she deserved a good found family. I thought her being there for Buffy during the Spike thing was a nice touch too.
